Security Compass has a New Jenkins Plugin for SD Elements

We’re thrilled to announce today that our award-winning policy-to-execution platform, SD Elements, now features a new Jenkins plugin which will empower agile development teams to build application risk management and compliance directly into the DevOps process. The new plugin informs the continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline with essential security and compliance controls in an automated fashion. This will ensure that applications will fail to deploy if they do not comply with risk policies that are set up via SD Elements.

Automating Security in a DevOps Environment

As application development teams transition to agile methodologies and DevOps environments, essential security and compliance measures are not being prioritized. Our policy-to-execution platform, SD Elements, is the only solution on the market that can translate complex security and compliance requirements into tickets that engineers and developers can understand and use. Ultimately, SD Elements is a platform that helps organizations go from policy to execution in an efficient, automated way, ensuring that development processes are not slowed down and that critical applications are delivered on time.

Risk Management in SD Elements

In April 2018, we introduced risk dashboards and risk policy management functionality to SD Elements. These risk dashboards provide a quick and easy way for managers to view each particular application’s degree of compliance with the assigned risk policies. A report which clearly identifies any gaps is automatically generated. The risk compliance status then feeds back into Jenkins by way of the plugin, informing the CI/CD scripts. In turn, DevOps teams can easily identify and address compliance problems in their applications early on, saving considerable time and resources. Previously, large organizations have relied on automated code scanners to address risk in a DevOps environment. Unfortunately, scanners only capture about 40% of any given application’s potential risk. As a result, they often accidentally deploy applications with unmitigated risk. With SD Elements’ new Jenkins plugin, however, DevOps teams can move away from unreliable and manual security towards a more automated and accurate approach that doesn’t slow down development.
